Faith Missionary Baptist Church
Was started on June 4, 1967. The first services began with 20 faithful members with a desire to see lost souls come to know the Lord as their personal Savior. They met in an old abandoned Appliance Store, which has since been renamed the Dillard Kirk Building and is still standing and used today. The first pastor was called in 1967, Pastor John Hoskins. He was a graduate of Tennessee Temple in Chatanooga Tennesee. In those first few years, the church was able to build an additional building to serve as the Church sanctuary, offices and Sunday School classrooms.
In 1971 the church started Faith Christian School as an outreach ministry to the community and to offer a quality christian education. It began with just a Kindergarten and grew to K5 - 12th grade. Pastor Hoskins and his wife Rita both worked closely with the school on the board and as teachers. Due to the growth of other Christian schools in the area, Faith Christian School closed it doors.
Pastor Hoskins served as the pastor of FMBC until his death in 2002. Fred Connery filled the pulpit until 2005. In 2006 the church called Mike Hager and his wife Jeanne to come to FMBC. Under Pastor Mike's direction, the Lord has blessed and the church has seen growth over the years. In 2013 Pastor Mike felt a burden to take the church in a direction it has never gone before. Through faith the church began praying that the Lord would provide a young couple to come and minister to the youth and young people in the area who faithfully attend FMBC. In June 2014, Pastor Josh Free and his wife Mindy accepted the call of God to join the ministry here. As a church family, we are excited to see how the Lord will continue to bless the ministry of FMBC through the lives that we have the privilege to touch.
