Read: James 3:17-18 Memorize: James 3:17 Pastor Josh December 3-9, 2015
It might be helful to refresh your memory, to go back and read the last James devotional, because James is continueing a thought. Talking about godly wisdom and where it comes from. "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peacable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy." As we talk about these traits, see if any of them apply to you.
James gives us a complete list of traits that comes with godly wisdom. First it is pure. Something that is pure is clean or holy. This is someone who seeks spiritual growth and maturity (Proverbs 20:9). Next is peacable. This is someone who lives in peace with others and seeks peace with others around them (Romans 12:18). Then is gentle. This is someone who is not stubborn and is teachable (Proverbs 12:1). Next is easy to be entreated. This is a person who is meek and approachable, kind, patient and no thought of revenge.
Next is full of mercy. This is someone who is ready to forgive those who have offended them (Matthew 6:15). Then we have good fruits. This is someone who no matter what, lives what they preach in their life and actions. Then without partiality. This is someone who treats everyone equally. Lastly, without hypocrisy. This is someone who is not just acting like a christian but actually living it (Matthew 23:28).
"And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." Is this fruit in your life? Godly wisdom will make you a peacemaker rather than a troublemaker.
